Who is this course for?
This course is for volunteers and staff in local Citizens Advice who will be delivering the new Help to Claim service. This is an introductory course and will be delivered by a CPAG trainer. Please note that a fee is charged for this course.
Aims
The course will train delegates on the practical steps involved in helping someone from the first stage of identifying a claim through to receipt of the first payment. The course will not include specifics on allowances, elements, rent support or calculations.
Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will have greater knowledge of:
- What might trigger a claim for Universal Credit
- What is the managed migration
- How to make a claim online or via the phone line
- What information will clients need to complete a claim
- What about clients with complex needs
- Alternative Payment Arrangements
- What to look out for in the first payment
